Apple released its latest M4 iMac on October 28th. Initially, the official website's technical specifications page indicated that the M4 iMac could output video to up to two 6K 60Hz or one 8K 120Hz external display.
Apple subsequently clarified to 9to5Mac that the M4 iMac does not support the originally mentioned specifications and is only capable of supporting an 8K 60Hz external display. The website has since been updated to remove the reference to 8K 120Hz.
It's worth noting that Apple currently offers no 8K 120Hz displays. Its highest-end Pro Display XDR has a resolution of 6K and a refresh rate of 60Hz, while the Studio Display has a resolution of 5K and a refresh rate of 60Hz.
Earlier this year, Apple also incorrectly listed the M2 chip in the iPad Air 6 as having 10 GPU cores instead of the actual 9 cores.
Following the release of the M4 iMac and M4 Mac mini, Apple is expected to unveil the M4 MacBook Pro tonight, completing a three-night streak of new product launches.
These new releases prioritize performance improvements, featuring the new M4 series chips and increased memory to accommodate the increased demands of Apple Intelligence.
