- Joe Rozsa
- Paul Martin

- Todd Malicoat

- Angie Schottmuller
- Marshall Simmonds
- Peter Meyers
- Carlos del Rio

- Thomas Schmitz
- Fabio Ricotta
- David Iwanow
- Kurt Krejny
NOTE: The high correlations here were extremely surprising and interesting. We've written more about these in this blog post: Facebook + Twitter's Influence on Google's Rankings.

- Todd Malicoat
- Dave Davies
- Jordan Kasteler
- Shaun Anderson
- Tim Grice

- Abhilash Patel Recently we have observed that excessive "quantity" of keyword-using inbound links can create algorithmic filters, which influences same keyword rankings negatively, dramatically and quickly. This raises the element's importance, because the lesson should be as cautionary as it is encouraging. It is a shame that pure, raw statistics like "quantity of links that employ the keyword as part of the anchor text" is still as influential as we observe. Elements like "distance of the page from a trusted seed..." should be more influential for sake of accuracy, but we have not observed that yet.
- Richard Baxter Topical relevance is incredibly weak in comparison to raw inbound link diversity (root domain links) and anchor text optimization. That point amazes me but most SERPs still show evidence of this tactic working well.
- David Harry Most certainly we've seen changes over the years as far as mass numbers. Unique domains and contextual links work far better than they used to and site-wide links have seen dampening. Another area not really touched on is location IMO. Search engines are getting much better at page segmentation and it's certainly something worth considering in the years ahead.
- Patrick C. Price The Unique-C-Block importance seems to have decreased since broader adoption of cloud hosting services like Amazon / Google / Azure has taken place. Unique URLs seem to have more influence, than unique C-Class blocks.
- Ross Hudgens I'm not convinced a site-wide link even has 2x the value of a link on the strongest page of a domain. In general, I would be careful with sitewide links with commercial anchor text in general, because instances of this occurring naturally almost never happen on a non-SEO-influenced link graph.
- Paul Martin This is a hard question to answer in a general way, as different circumstances affect different websites - hence why a link audit, before any campaign starts, is so crucial. For example; a website that has years and years of amazing brand based links can benefit hugely from establishing just one or 2 exact keyword links. However a website with much less brand presence will no doubt suffer from building exact keyword links and so a much more wide spread and creative approach is needed.
- Russ Jones I think "anchor text pass-through" should be considered. Essentially, Google may use a more simplistic model than topic relevance of your linking pages and, instead, could simply give additional weight to links that share the same anchor text (ie: imagine tracing the mozRank of the keyword "viagra" via anchor text links across the web, and using that as a separate measurement. Almost like a keyword-specific PR).
- Greg Niland George Orwell would probably say "All links are equal but some links are more equal than others".
- Wiep Knol I'd say that the quantity of unique linking root domains that contain a link employing the keyword as the exact anchor text is the most important factor, as long as you have a large amount of naturally looking links to back it up. If not, you'll eventually trigger a filter of some kind.
注: TF-IDF(term frequency–inverse document frequency)是一种用于信息搜索和信息挖掘的常用加权技术。

- Hamlet Batista The keyword in the first few words of a meta description doesn't help with ranking, but Google is more likely to to use the meta description as the search snippet when the keyword is part of the search query.
- Dave Davies Some factors included here such as keywords as the first word of title and description tag are affected by the click through rates that this results in. While they may be factors unto themselves - their position in this ranking set is affected by their influence on click through rates.
- Lindsay Wassell Seeking absolute or ideal keyword occurrences or densities (percent-based) for any on-page factor is pretty old-school. The algorithm is more complicated than these simple gaming tactics give credit.
- Gustavo Bacchin Description tags might not have a direct impact on your rankings however having a unique, keyword-rich, well-written Description tag will help users figure out what your site is about and decide whether or not to click through.
- Kurt Krejny Topic modeling (keyword themes) supported by internal-pointing links with similar anchor text appears to be a stronger factor than it was in the past. Stronger theme building and solid information architecture is crucial to ranking in competitive verticals.
- Pete Wailes I think these loosely fall in to two categories - factors of high importance, and those of low importance. Things such as keywords in title tags, link-metric based factors etc I'd call important, whereas factors such as keyword usage in meta descriptions, or keyword density I'd say were more archaic and of less use.
- Dan Cohen Some of them aren't ranking factors in my experience, merely best practices to be used in particular circumstances.
- Hugo Guzman I think that in many cases, several of these so-called factors have little to no impact. In other words, a site that doesn't have things like header tags can still secure the No. 1 spot easily.
- Greg Niland Webmasters need to remember that page elements can serve multiple uses. For example having the keyword present in the url string is not as important for the Google algorithm as it is to the user looking at the Google SERP. Showing the keyword in the url on the SERP can dramatically boost CTR.

- Lauren Vaccarello If you look at this from Google's perspective, bounce rate indicates a quality issue and a poor user experience. It's in Google's best interest to deliver the best possible results to prevent a competitor from gaining market share.
- Carlos del Rio I think that most of the traffic related factors are highly gameable and probably only a minor factor in total.
- Ian Lurie I suspect Google's been using behavioral data for a long time. They're very cagey about this question, saying things like "We don't use CTR to determine rankings". OK, but they don't mention using CTR to detect spam, adjust existing rankings, etc..
- David Lindop This is such an unknown area, it's impossible to claim any level of authority when theorizing. If I had to step off the fence however, I'd say that immediate bounces back to the search results page feels like a strong signal that the page didn't satisfy the user's requirement.
- Tim Grice It's still difficult to understand how user behavior affects rankings, however CTR seems to be a straight forward yet weak signal for Google to measure the relevance of a listing.

- Hamlet Batista Microformats don't help with ranking, but when used to provide rich snippets they can increase organic CTR.
- AJ Kohn I feel the need, the need for speed. Speed coupled with unique content is a winning combination.
- Matthew Brown Factors like load speed, http response time, and use of advertising are not important until they reach a certain threshold. Example: Use of advertising does not influence rankings until you reach a certain ad to content ratio, then you may be hit with the Panda factor.
- Everett Sizemore I would have ranked "Diversity of content types (i.e. text, video, image, micro-data...) on the page" as very high, but each content type on it's own isn't as strong of an indicator from my experience when dealing with the "core" algorithm (i.e. non-blended, non-local, non-personalized...).
- Joe Rozsa Unique, relevant content is still king. Sites and pages can still be ranked well despite poor HTML, poor navigation and poor site architecture. It makes it difficult, but with an existing sitemap.xml file, these things are not deal breakers. Site load time has not had a major impact on SERPs in my opinion, unless the site has an absurdly long load time where the overall user experience is poor.
- Scott Smith Freshness is a widely misunderstood issue. Pages that have not been updated in years can rank in top 3 spots. Freshness can be a positive indicator, and matters on some kinds of sites and in some verticals more than others. But site owners shouldn't make a practice of updating quality pages for the sake of freshness, if the pages don't need it.
